One of the great things about our country’s manufacturing industry has been the ability to churn out–literally–tons of products from die casts, punches and the like. Taking the long view, one can look at our output and marvel… just marvel…
Then you realize that you have to check all of those parts.
Especially all of those hundreds, if not thousands of parts that churn out from plastic injection molding machines. It’d take a forever’s amount of time and resources to check them all, right?
This is where acceptance sampling can help. Whether it be SPC or Six Sigma, you can use a fraction of the lot to check for the whole. Utilizing statistical analysis is a proven technique in the metrology industry and is both cost and schedule efficient.
At AML, we’ve helped our clients with QC acceptance sampling. Among the types of parts we’ve run through the sampling process include:
- Dental tools
- Fittings for IV tubes
- Heart valve sizers
- Rivets
- Gage templates
- Rubber gaskets
Just as with anything quality, a good inspection plan is important in order to make acceptance sampling work for you. Is your part a good candidate for sampling? What are the critical dimensions that have to be checked?
There are a lot of factors to consider. If you are working with a client you also need to consider tips on outsourcing your QC inspection process. — and we can help! Give us a call or shoot us an email!
